Regarding the development trend and direction of mobile phone camera modules, it is actually a transformation of camera technology, such as 13 million pixels, F2.2 aperture, back-illuminated image sensor, lens plus optical image stabilization, ISOCELL, Focus Pixel, phase focus, PureView - it is true that the rear camera module of smartphones has soared for many years, making it even more perfect.
This also poses a higher technical challenge for smartphone manufacturers: How does the camera experience of next-generation smartphone products surprise users again? After all, it is difficult to increase the CMOS of the camera and the volume of the lens due to the physical volume of the phone. In other words, it is also difficult to increase the amount of light entering and the area of a single pixel of CMOS. In this case, blindly increasing the pixels, on the contrary, will reduce the area of the individual pixels, and the light sensitivity will decrease, resulting in a decrease in image quality.

Therefore, the key to improving the imaging quality of mobile phone camera modules is to improve the photosensitive performance of CMOS. This is related to the amount of light entering the lens and the area of the individual CMOS pixels (the larger the area, the better the light sensitivity). Since the area of the mobile phone camera module lens is difficult to expand, mobile phone manufacturers are doing their best to improve the optical utilization of CMOS, so they will use back-illuminated sensors (because this technology "makes the metal wiring become a photodiode on the back, and all light can be irradiated unhindered on the light-receiving surface of the photodiode.
However, there is also a contradiction, that is, the higher the pixel area and the CMOS size does not increase, its pixel count will decrease, not just increase the size of the pixels, such as HTC's UltraPixels technology, the pixels are larger, but it also sacrifices the details of the picture, which is evaluated as "taking care of one and losing the other". Therefore, in general, the imaging dilemma of the mobile phone camera module is: try not to increase the volume of the camera module, maintain a high pixel, try to ensure the area of the pixel, and improve the optical utilization rate of the lens.
