WDR camera technology is a technology used to allow the camera to see image features at very strong contrast. When the contrast between light and dark is too large, the usual camera is limited by the light characteristics of the CCD, often the background is too bright or the foreground is dark. When a block in the line of sight of a conventional camera has a bright background light, they must look at the object in front of the doorway or window. Generally, the central backlight compensation (BLC) method is used. Its key purpose is to increase the brightness of the central part of the field of view and reduce the brightness of the peripheral part of the field of view to see the blocks in the middle.
Backlight compensation, also known as backlight compensation, divides the image into several different areas, each of which is exposed separately. In some applications, the field of view will contain very bright areas, and the containing blocks will be surrounded by a bright field of view, and the image will be dark and without layers. In this case, the gain of the amplifier is low because the signal level detected by the AGC is not low, and the brightness of the main body cannot be improved, so after introducing backlight compensation, the camera only detects a sub-region of the entire field of view, and determines the operating point of the AGC circuit by calculating the average signal level of the area. Since the average level of the sub-area is very low, the automatic gain control amplifier will have a higher gain, which will increase the amplitude of the output signal, resulting in a clear main picture on the monitor, greatly reducing the subjective brightness difference between the background and main images, and improving visibility across the field of view. Although the backlight compensation increases the brightness of the subject, the image quality will be more or less degraded.
The WDR technology of the WDR camera can expose twice at the same time, one faster and one slower, so that bright and dark objects on the screen can be seen at the same time. Although both of these countermeasures are aimed at getting rid of the problem of clearly seeing the overall goal in a strong backlit natural environment, the backlight compensates and loses the contrast of the picture, so to some extent, wide dynamic range technology is an upgrade of backlight compensation.
